Macrovision is looking for a talented, innovative Software Engineer to join a team of over achievers who need another rocket scientist/super-genius to help push the envelope.

 

We make middle-ware for networked home entertainment systems that allow you to enjoy your favorite videos, music, and photos wherever you want; so you'll get to work on exciting new AV platforms in the technically challenging, fast-paced, dynamic world of consumer electronics.

 

Responsibilities: Developing and documenting features in the existing Macrovision middleware code base Porting the existing Macrovision middleware to new media devices Creating reproducible build environments as new platforms become supported Creating and customizing run-time environments to support media devices Streamlining processes by which new platforms become supported Supporting DLNA/UPnP standards compliance Supporting field application engineers regarding customer issues and software defects

Desired Education and Experience: BS/MS CS/CE or equivalent experience 6+ years experience, 2+ years experience in relevant work Work on a shipping CE or other high-volume product

Required Skills, Knowledge:

  Strong core computer science skills Strong C skills (proficient in C programming) Strong debugging skills Strong software design skills Strong written communication skills Strong knowledge of open source tools and operating systems Strong Cross-platform development experience

Here are some qualifications the person who fills this position will eventually need to perform at the expected level: Performance analysis skills General understanding of A/V CODECs Knowledge of networking from HTTP, TCP, UDP level Familiarity with Linux in an embedded context Experience with DRM technologies Knowledge of UPnP A/V Media Server and DLNA guidelines and requirements Experience with source control tools such as SVN Strong understanding of Make Knowledge of multiple CPU instruction set architectures - ARM, MIPS, PPC, x86, etc
