Position OverviewThe Quality Assurance Engineer II position takes a senior role in planning, executing, and documenting the results of both manual and automated testing efforts in diverse software applications and complex environments. The position works closely with other QA Engineers, Project Managers, Business Analysts and Developers in delivering high quality software on time in a fast paced environment. This position mentors lower level Quality Assurance team members.
Essential Functions:
Test Design:Translate technical requirements into detailed test cases.Incorporate manual and/or automated testing methods. Includes multiple test scenarios and should be readable at the user level
Test Execution:Execute manual and/or automated testing using new and/or developed test procedures.Tests executed on a variety of platforms, devices, and environments.Report actual vs. expected results to assist in identifying systems defects.
Defect Tracking:Participates in the tracking and management of application and system defects.Documents defects with indicative data easily understood by development teams.Defect documentation includes reproduction steps, actual vs. expected results, code versions, system specifics, etc.
Technical Support:Troubleshoots issues reported in production environments and provides diagnosis and/or replication of the symptomsProvides Tier II Technical Support to operational teams which use the systems in the field.Fields day-to-day reported issues and suggests resolutions to those issues.
Internal Relations:Participate in customer and/or management meetings. Learn business functionality of company products as a byproduct of testing.Maintain positive internal customer relations and manage internal customer expectations.
Test Plans:Assists in the creation of test plan segments that incorporate all QA efforts in relation to the project plan.Incorporates QA efforts related to environments, testing methods, testing types, test tools, staffing, project risks, project assumptions, etc.
Standards of Practice:Promotes organizational quality assurance best practices. Provides input to cross-functional teams on product/software requirements, specifications, and standards. Researches and evaluates testing software and techniques to ensure system quality.
Education:4 year degree in a technical field or relevant work experience required4 year degree in CS, CIS or MIS preferred
Industry ExperienceTelecommunications or High Tech requiredWireless, Billing Systems and Rating Systems preferred
