DeVry University seeks one full time instructor of undergraduate courses at the Orlando, Florida campus in the technology-based disciplines of Game & Simulation Programming and Network & Communications Management
The typical course of instruction may include:
GPS-110: Introduction to Game and Simulation Development This course provides a broad overview of the game industry, and the game development and design process. Topics include game terminology, history of games, genre analysis, platform comparisons, psychological concepts of interactivity, content creation, and game playing and exploration.
CIS-246: Connectivity with Laboratory This course covers fundamentals of data communication and computer networking, including the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model. Network architecture and configurations, such as local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) are addressed.
NETW-202: Introduction to Networking with Lab This course introduces the underlying technology of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) and the Internet. Topics include networking media, the Open System Interconnection (OSI) model, transmission control protocol/Internet protocol (TCP/IP), an overview of routing and switching, and small network configuration and troubleshooting.
NETW-204: Introduction to Routing with Lab This course introduces router configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting; routing protocols; and use of access control lists (ACLs) as a traffic management tool. Students gain command-line-interface (CLI) knowledge and configure local and wide area networks with routers.
Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include:
1. Develops strategies to teach the course content for the entire term including instructional objectives, assignments, textbooks, weight of grades and delivery methods.
2. Develops and provides to students an approved DeVry University syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, which includes terminal course objectives.
3. Organizes, prepares and regularly revises/updates all course materials.
4. Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and appropriate course related software, including websites, e-mail and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
5. Utilizes educational technology (such as PowerPoint, remote access to syllabi and grades, classroom projection systems, online courses or course components with interactive capabilities) to enhance learning.
6. Establishes positive classroom relationships with students by being actively engaged in the classroom and lab. Provides opportunities for in-class discussions and questions and displays enthusiasm about the students, the subject matter, and the learning process.
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills required for this position include:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Network & Communications Management or other relevant discipline.
Minimum of 3 years related industry and/or academic experience.
Prior teaching experience is desirable.
Must have required subject matter expertise (game/simulation; networking) and outstanding communication skills.
Must have excellent motivational and instructional skills in a diverse and non-traditional environment.
Must be able to facilitate diverse groups.
