Job Description
Manages the Art Department, creating effective and efficient advertising graphics. Corporate, retail or creative agency experience a plus.
• Team leader for artwork, layout design, copy writing
• Up front design collaboration with client and creative team
• Meet with internal/external clients to discuss project and client requirements; brief members of creative team
• Review/evaluate creative strategy to understand target market and purpose of project
• Lead specific ideas; collaborate on overall campaign ideas
• Review copy platform to ensure adherence to creative strategy
• Work with web developers and designer to generate ideas/concepts for creative; formulate design concepts and presentation approaches
• Comfortable presenting creative to high level corporate clients and a wide variety of other levels of clientele.
• Displays proficiency working with prepress departments for final execution of agency designed print materials
• Supervise and manage creative design process
• Direct design/production of graphics
• Assigns team members to complete design ideas and/or copy
• Solid problem solving abilities
• High level of customer service/sales ability a plus
• Team builder; team oriented, self-motivated
• Outstanding time manager
• Diplomatic; work seamlessly with both client and creative services teams
• Ability to negotiate skillfully in difficult situations
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• Proven abilities to manage multiple simple to complex projects and also guide, train and manage creative personnel through all aspects of the design field.
• Bachelor's degree in design and/or formal training in typography, graphic, interactive design skills
• Experience in all aspects of photo shoot direction.
• Strong concept development and graphic design ability.
• Understanding of composition, typeface standards, color, imagery and layout
• 5+ years experience
• Ability to use InDesign, QuarkXPress, Illustrator, Photoshop, Word, Acrobat, FTP Software,
• Familiarity with Flash, Dreamweaver, Image Ready, Fireworks, and HTML/web browsers, image optimization, web graphics, animation, user interface, Power Point
• Experience working with various ad design specs for both print and online
• Strong communication skills required, both verbal and written.
