Position Title: Implementation Engineer, Professional Services

Reports to:  Sr. Project Manager, Professional Services


ConnectEdu, Inc. was founded in 2002 to streamline the “going-to-college-to-career” process with innovative web services technology.  Our employees possess backgrounds in education, business and technology, with teams across the country.  Our goal is to help students successfully manage education and career transitions by deploying our comprehensive, award-winning portal, Connect!®, to students in partnership with high schools, community colleges, colleges and employers. 

ConnectEdu seeks a highly motivated and talented Implementation Engineer to work in the Professional Services Team.  The Implementation Engineer is primarily responsible for the development of web service client software, and installation and configuration of data integration modules required to deliver data feeds into the Student Information Systems (SIS) at our partner Colleges and Universities.  The incumbent will work closely with customers to identify requirements and develop custom code to meet customer requirements.

 

The Implementation Engineer will provide expert-level product knowledge, and provide needed coding, testing, and documentation skills.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Build strong working relationships with the technical staff at our higher education customers.Understand our product and deliver services with a focus on data delivery process.Provide technical, functional, and coding support to customers, field staff and product team.Respond to situations where first line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems.Escalate design, reliability, and maintenance issues to the product team.Code interfaces to feed data from Connect! into customer’s systems and vice versa.Maintain and enhance ConnectEdu’s integration product.Other duties as assigned.

 

Job SpecificationsBachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a similar field required.3+ years experience working in a data integration role.  (College Student Information System integration experience preferred but not required)Extensive experience creating and consuming XML based Web Services.  Knowledge of SOAP and REST web services a plus.Demonstrated ability to lead development of technical requirements document.Experience with .NETExperience with a major RDBMS, ideally Oracle.Client software development and packaging preferred.Knowledge of Ruby or other programming/scripting language preferred.
