Information Retrieval Engineer
Business.com is seeking a passionate Information Retrieval Engineer to work as part of an elite team in Santa Monica to design and develop next generation search and information retrieval applications.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the VP of Information Architecture, you will work as part of a team to evaluate and implement innovative new algorithms for information retrieval, information extraction, machine learning, and natural language processing. You will design and develop products and systems capable of discovering, extracting and manipulating web data for use on the Business.com site and for network partners. These systems work with large amounts of structured and unstructured data and must be scalable, high performing and fault tolerant. You will work closely with counterparts in Product Management to manage the development of all Information Retrieval and Search systems
Skills/Qualifications
· Background in information retrieval, machine learning, and Web data mining.
· 3-5 years of software development experience in Java or C++ and with demonstrated strong object oriented programming skills
· Experience working with large amounts of data
· Strong understanding of algorithm complexity and advanced data structures
· Experience with parallel/distributed systems, preferably Linux
· Exceptional problem solving skills
· Experience using relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2)
· MS Degree in Computer Science or related discipline. Ph.D. a strong plus
· Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
· Intelligent and creative
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism and integrity
· Experience with search engines is a strong plus
