The location(s) for this position include Chattanooga, TN, Columbia, SC, Portland, ME or Telecommuting Arrangement We're currently seeking an experienced Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) infrastructure engineer in our diverse Distributed Storage Services organization. This position will join a strong team that supports multiple TSM 5.3-5.5 servers (AIX) and backup/recovery services for 900+ Windows, VMWARE, Virtuoso and AIX clients.In additional to daily accountabilities for support, the successful incumbent will provide technical leadership and input to a range of backup and recovery enhancements including emerging technologies such as disk-based backups, data mirroring, encryption, CDP, data deduplication and remote office consolidation. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Create and manage backup schedules, disk pools, storage pools and tape volumes Support tape libraries and devices Team lead for Symantec Backup Exec / remote field backups Monitor TSM activity logs for potential problems and missed backups; work with appropriate personnel to troubleshoot and fix issues Investigate and resolve tape errors, library errors, etc. Implement tools and deliver monthly capacity and measurement reports Document processes and procedures Support activities related to audit preparedness Perform restores (works directly with end-users and other support teams) including participation in 7x24 on call rotation Provide technical leadership to plan and identify and implementing backup and recovery enhancements enhancements. Assist with technical project planning and implementation for all team projectsIf you have 3+ years experience in TSM (or related) backup and recovery engineering, you should APPLY now! Proven technical experience with Symantec Backup Exec and/or strong Windows or AIX engineering background will be pluses. Experience with backup of mainframe environments a plus.College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science preferred. 4+ years of related work experience. Industry certification a plus Highly developed technical expertise in multiple key operating system or subsystem areas Ability to operate independently in developing and implementing the most complex technical solutions. Experience supporting in-house developed business applications and working directly with application development teams. Ability to leverage scripting and other tools to automate routine tasks. Through product research and personal experience, ability to articulate strategy for appropriating various software and technologies to meet long range computing requirements. Good human relations skills; able to work productively in team setting Ability to drive resolution of highly complex technical problems Ability to effectively summarize and clearly communicate software/hardware problems involving multiple support team(s) Organized, able to follow through and complete projects with minimal supervision. Systematic, technically curious, self motivated and able to work independently without direct supervision Candidate must be comfortable in fast paced, multiple priority environment Ability to prioritize and divide time between multiple projects Excellent written and verbal communications skills; able to communicate effectively with systems associates at all levels.
