Interaction Design Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Pure Digital Technologies is a dynamic, gowing private company that develops, manufactures and sells the popular Flip Video line of easy-to-use video camcorders (www.theflip.com).

 

We looking for a passionate and talented interaction design manager to join the growing Flip Video software development team in San Francisco. This is a full-time, on-site position. The interaction design manager reports directly to the VP of Software Engineering.

The interaction design manager works with all product stakeholders to ensure that the user interfaces of our Windows, Macintosh, and web-based consumer video editing and sharing applications are usable, meet requirements, are delivered on schedule and in a form that the engineering team can use. A background in design is desirable, however the role is primarily focused managing design resources and activities.

Responsibilities:
+ Review product requirements (MRDs and PRDs);
+ Establish appropriate documentation standards working with the software team;
+ Identify, hire and manage design resources as needed;
+ Coordinate design deliverables with internal software project management and external design resources;
+ Facilitate usability research activities;
+ Facilitate UI art and asset production and delivery;
+ Work with engineers to refine UI design as-built;
+ Work with QA to identify, track and resolve UI bugs and issues.

Qualifications:
+ 3+ years experience managing designers and design activities in a software development environment;
+ Detailed understanding of the software development lifecycle;
+ Strong project management skills;
+ Hands-on experience with Visio/OmniGraffle, Photoshop/Fireworks, Flash, Illustrator;
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills;
+ Excellent interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple complex systems and schedules simultaneously.
