Java/AJAX Web Developer for Search Inside the Book Every week, millions of customers around the world rely on Search Inside to preview books.  Put your web application skills to use in architecting a new interface for Search Inside the Book.  You have a passion for building high-performance user-friendly web applications and strong technical skills in Java or Perl.  You want to change the way millions of Amazon customers discover and purchase their books online!   You will build and own the next version of the AJAX-based interactive Amazon Online Reader and be a core contributor to the Search Inside the Book user experience that is being re-invented in 2008.  This is an excellent opportunity for an up-and-coming engineer to re-launch a widely used customer-facing product this year.   This is what our customers say: “I love the Search Inside feature!  It is an immense help in deciding which books would be best to purchase.  It is the top advantage your site has over Barnes & Noble.”Our front-end applications are powered by Java, Perl, AJAX, JavaScript, CSS and HTML.  Successful candidates will have a strong background in an object-oriented language such as Java or C++ and experience building web applications. Experience with Scrum, Perl, Ruby, PHP, JavaScript or Scriptaculous is a plus.
