Java Software Developer

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

-  Designs, develops, tests, debugs, documents, and installs functional units within a large-scale Java application in a complex business software development environment

-  Works with clients and internal project leaders to interpret specifications provided to meet development assignment goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner.

-  Responds to errors and urgent problems.  Takes independent action to correct problems encountered.

-  Maintains application design integrity.

-  Maintains a client service approach.

-  Maintains and promotes company values.




KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Essential computer skills include:

-  Proficiency with Java (J2EE, J2SE)

-  Proficiency in Object Oriented analysis, design, and programming.

-  Proficiency in reading, understanding, and working with large existing code bases.

-  Proficiency in using SQL to update, delete and create data in a relational database.

-  Proficiency in debugging.

 
Beneficial computer skills include:

 -  Familiar with Design Patterns and UML notation.

- Familiar with algorithm analysis and design.

- Experience with scripting ANT, Unix/Linux shell, Windows batch files

- Familiar with Oracle 10g

- Experience with source code control tools.

- Experience working in a software development life cycle environment.






TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

-  Bachelor or technical degree preferably in Computer Science or Computer Programming.

-  Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience with Java development in a professional environment.
