Job Description:
The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is searching for a programmer/developer for scientific and/or technical software application development. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects having national impact as a member of a team of Computer Science professionals.

Our expertise in Cyber Security protects today’s critical infrastructure of both public and private organizations. Our approach to merge science and technology employs high-performance computing to solve scientific problems through the development and implementation of high-level programming abstractions, high-speed networks and communication tools.
Minimum Requirements:
* Experience with Java, JSP, Javascript, and XML is required.
-* Knowledge of web programming, database systems, and web/database software experience is desirable.
* The successful candidate will be a self-starter having excellent problem solving skills, with a desire to continuously upgrade their skills. They will work well in a team environment and possess strong interpersonal skills.
* Candidates must have a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or related Bachelor¿s degree.
* The ability to work well in a team environment is required, as are excellent oral and written communication skills.
Level I
* Technical Expertise: Contributing professional. Applies basic theories, principles, methods, tools and technologies to well-defined assignments of limited scope.
* Level of Responsibility: Performs basic science and engineering tasks and activities with minimal oversight.
* Breadth of Technical Knowledge: Works to broaden and deepen own technical knowledge and skills.
* Minimum Education Requirement: BS 0-1 years experience, MS 0-1 years experience
Level II
* Technical Expertise: Contributing professional who is building a professional reputation for technical expertise. Fully applies and interprets standard theories, principles, methods, tools and technologies within specialty.
* Level of Responsibility: Independently completes recurring assignments. Exercises limited judgment on work details. Makes preliminary selections and adaptations of technical alternatives.
* Breadth of Technical Knowledge: Continues developing technical expertise and knowledge. Develops new skills.
* Minimum Education Requirement: BS 2-3 years experience, MS 0-2 years experience, PhD 0 years experience
Other Information:
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.
Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter in accordance 10 CFR 710, Appendix B. All Security Clearance (L or Q) positions will be considered by the Department of Energy to be Testing Designated Positions which means that they are subject to applicant, random, and for cause drug testing. In addition, applicants must be able to demonstrate non-use of illegal drugs for the 12 consecutive months preceding completion of the requisite Questionnaire for National Security Positions (QNSP).
Note: Applicants will be considered ineligible for security clearance processing by the U.S. Department of Energy until non-use of illegal drugs for 12 consecutive months can be demonstrated.
In order to reduce cycle time, internal and external solicitations of interest will run concurrently; however, qualified PNNL staff will be given first consideration.
