We are looking for an experienced LAMP web application engineer to build a set of applications. The initial project is a web based application to manage and provision access by Customer Support agents to the property tools they need to help Yahoo!’s customers. The person filling this position will work in a small dynamic team starting from web application design to development, testing and deployment.



The immediate responsibilities of this position include:

Design and develop the backend, front end and other applicable interfaces of the web application.

Responsible for design and development of various reports and documentation of the product.

Responsible for unit, functional and integration testing of the web application.

Design and implement the migration process of existing tool access information to this new platform.

Manage the release of the system: alpha, beta and production deployments.

Required:

Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, programming languages, software engineering, database theory, operating systems, etc.

Minimum 2 to 3 years of strong web development experience using Linux or Unix, PHP5, Apache and MySQL5.0 (LAMP) and 5+ years experience in software development.

Good knowledge of SQL queries, triggers, stored procedures and database schema design. MySQL 5.0 database experience is preferred.

Good knowledge of Object Oriented Design and Architecture methodologies.

Good knowledge of PHP web development frameworks. Symfony framework knowledge is a plus.

Good knowledge of JavaScript, CSS and HTML.

Good knowledge of best web practices and design patterns.

Excellent debugging, problem solving and testing skills. TDD knowledge is a plus.

Strong communication and people skills: ability to communicate effectively with various internal/external functional areas including engineering peer groups, technical operation teams and business/user owners.

Self starter with high energy, deadline-driven, dependable and can deliver results with aggressive deadlines.

Fast learner and strong performer who can thrive in a rapidly changing and dynamic company.

Preferred:

PHP web development experience using an IDE. Zend Studio IDE experience is a plus.

Familiarity with a version control system like CVS or Subversion.

Familiarity of work flow concepts and workflow design.

Familiarity with UML is a plus.

Experience and ability to work with a wide range of people in different functions and at different levels.

Working experience with a reporting tool, such as Crystal Reports.

Familiarity with web security methodologies and design.

Familiarity with REST web service is a plus
