Lead Quality Assurance Engineer













 

Broad Function and Scope of the Position:

The Lead Quality Assurance Engineer plans and manages software/system test activities, creates detailed test plans, executes test cases, and provides technical leadership and direction to the rest of the QA team.  The Lead QA Engineer analyzes and documents test results and communicates those results to the rest of the R&D team.  The role also troubleshoots critical issues and assists with production support.

 

Position Responsibilities: Participate in the entire SDLC process, working closely with business analysts and developers to achieve overall R&D departmental goals Develop detailed functional, regression, load and performance test plans and testing scenarios in accordance with functional requirements and system specifications Execute test plans, and report results and findings that do not meet quality or performance standards Provide senior technical/QA leadership to the QA team Spearhead initiatives to develop automated testing capabilities for appropriate system components Participate in the development of project plans with accurate time and resource allocations, and consistently meet milestones and objectives Evaluate existing QA processes and procedures and take initiative to suggest and implement new standards, approaches and strategies, where beneficial Assist the Production Support team with the diagnosis and resolution of issues reported by clients and internal users Accept responsibility for completeness and quality of individual and QA team work

 

Position Qualifications: 7+ years experience in hands-on software quality assurance, development of detailed test plans, testing methodologies and documentation 1+ years experience as technical/functional lead of a QA team.  Comfort and enthusiasm with mentoring colleagues and achieving consensus Experience with system, load and performance testing of high-transaction-volume database applications Architectural understanding of, and QA experience with, multi-component client-server and/or N-tier systems in a Microsoft environment (Windows servers, SQL Server 2000/2005, IIS 6.0, etc.) Experience testing both “thick client” and web-based applications Prior QA experience with commercial software applications is highly desirable Understanding of securities processing and investment accounting systems is highly desirable Strong diagnostic and investigative skills to properly assess software product quality and uncover defects Sufficient technical background to create detailed and accurate testing scenarios from functional requirements and specifications Ability to take direction well but work independently, with the ability to learn and assimilate new information quickly A positive and professional attitude, personal integrity and responsibility, strong problem-solving ability, enthusiasm and energy, and the ability to work well under stress Prior programming experience and/or knowledge of programming concepts is desirable Excellent written and verbal, interpersonal and team skills, impeccable attention to detail

 

Education:

·         Bachelor’s degree, either in finance/accounting/economics, with some computer science/math background, or computer science/math with some finance/accounting/economics background

·         Relevant post-college QA / technical training is a plus
