Zipwhip is looking for lead program developers who are Highly skilled in Java, Linux, MySQL,  JavaScript, HTML, CSS, .Net, C#, ASP.NET,  SQL Server,  and XML. You may work remotely in the comfort of your own home!

America is in the midst of a text messaging explosion.  Texting is now considered a full-blown communication medium in the U.S.  Similar to what ICQ was to instant messaging, Hotmail was to email, and Skype was to VoIP, Zipwhip is focused on being the brand synonymous with text messaging.

 

We’re a high profile direct-to-consumer startup technology company based out of Seattle, WA focused on bringing cutting edge text messaging solutions to the internet and other devices.  Working closely with major U.S. wireless carriers, our goal is to bridge the gap between text messaging and the web.  With over a dozen applications on our product roadmap we’re well positioned to become the de-facto platform for text messaging on the internet. This is an opportunity to get in early with a company poised for enormous success in the mobile and software development industry.  

 

The Job:

Do you hate the idea of being disconnected from the internet?  Do you have a pile of computer magazines next to your couch?  Are you an avid reader of tech blogs like Slashdot, Engadget, or Linux.com?  Are you willing to work long hours?  If you are extremely confident in your abilities and want to work with a professional team in an edgy well-funded startup then we should talk.   We need a Lead Development Engineer immediately to develop our software, lead our technical architecture design, model our database structure, and participate in design and analysis for current and future Zipwhip applications.    

  We’re using the ExtJs library in JavaScript which uses aspect-oriented programming (AOP) and inheritance in JavaScript. We’re as web 2.0 as it gets. We’re heavy duty on incredible client-side functionality in the browser. Our web app actually feels like a desktop app with a windowing interface. On the server side we’re using Grails with MySQL. We use the model/view/controller paradigm, aka MVC. We make heavy use of Ajax, web services, JSON data exchange, and XML There is a portion of the infrastructure that is Windows based including .NET, ASP.NET, Microsoft SQL Server, the new LINQ database query library, .NET web services, and other Microsoft server technology In the future we are going to be using Adobe AIR, more .NET on the desktop, Mozilla add-ons, platform SDKs for Java, PHP, and .NET.

 

The Qualifications: Highly skilled in Java, Linux, MySQL,  JavaScript, HTML, CSS, .Net, C#, ASP.NET,  SQL Server,  and XML Minimum 5 years experience programming Experience designing and creating software libraries, APIs, and tools Skilled in application architecture, database modeling, and technical designs Understanding of browser DOM and cross-browser issues Experience building multi-tier scalable applications Firm understanding of concepts such as scoping, inheritance, and front-end script optimization Commitment and passion for understanding new technology and software Proven ability to work effectively with a team and 3rd party suppliers Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills Ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment Experience working with ExtJS framework is not required, but desired
