Job Description
The Lead Oracle DBA uses expert level knowledge of database and data design technologies along with solid understanding of CCC's business to implement and support data solutions that meet CCC's business requirements. Supervises a team of database administrators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Supervises a team of database administrators. Provides direction, oversight, and coaching of team members. Provides input to performance appraisals of team members. Understands CCC's business, business systems, and impacts of infrastructure on business operations. Partners with data architects to shape and design data, database, data warehouse, and business intelligence solutions to support CCC's business. Installs, maintains, upgrades, troubleshoots, tests, and supports data base technologies (Oracle, Sybase, Red Brick, SQL Server). Ensures that databases systems are implemented to meet CCC's internal and external standards and service level requirements. Ensures data bases are replicated and backed up to meet CCC's operational and disaster recovery requirements. Performs database hygiene and maintenance to ensure optimum performance. Provides problem solving expertise and coordination as required across all technologies implemented at CCC. Serves on cross-functional project teams as the data and database subject matter expert. Communicates database issues to management. Serves as the primary escalation point for all database issues and problems, and ensures timely resolution. In conjunction with Architecture, continually evaluates the database environment and proposes changes which improve the effectiveness of the computing environment. Provides leadership to project teams during design and implementation activities. Provides monitoring, coaching, and knowledge transfer to team employees. Tunes databases for optimal performance. Provides advice and counsel to other teams, and serves on design teams. Creates work and cost estimates for implementations of new databases or changes to current databases. Documents system designs and related processes.

Is able to respond quickly and adapt to changes in priorities driven by a dynamic marketplace. Is able to interact with CCC's executive management both inside and outside of IT.
Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 7-10 years information systems experience in a large enterprise systems environment supporting mission-critical systems and applications across a variety of database technologies, e.g. Oracle, Red Brick, Sybase, SQL Server. 3-5 years supervisory experience including performance appraisals. 5+ years experience in Oracle or SQL Server. Expert level skills in database installation, maintenance, and upgrades. Expert level skills in database tuning, performance management, and database reorganization. Expert level skills in backup and recovery of databases. Expert level skills in data base recovery in a disaster recovery environment. Expert level SQL and scripting skills. Strong UNIX (Solaris) and Windows skills.
Certifications: Should hold certifications in Database technologies.
