Requirement-Lead Software Architect NAVTEQ is the leading provider of digital map data for Vehicle Navigation, Internet & Wireless applications and Business Solutions. Cutting edge applications such as these are part of a growing set of applications that enhance consumer's access to information while they are mobile. We have coined the term informed mobility' to represent this emerging need.  NAVTEQ data is used in virtually all of the leading navigation systems in both North America and Europe. Our customers rely on NAVTEQ digital map information for use in their applications based on its accuracy, detail and completeness.  Lead ArchitectThe Lead Architect, under general direction, identifies common software subsystems in relation to the enterprise architecture.Designs and specifies key interfaces and data models. Communicates architectural decisions to developers on project team. Enforces architectural compliance of responsible subsystems and their local and outward interdependencies. Map system architectural requirements and use cases to the responsible subsystems. Principal Duties:• Designs and specifies key interfaces and data models. • Communicates architectural decisions and intent with project team. • Collects and analyzes results against the defined validation criteria. • Maps requirements and use cases to subsystems and components. • Defines subsystem process model and dynamic interactions. • Models package and component (jar or assembly) dependencies within responsible subsystems and between responsible subsystems and overall system. • Monitors architectural conformance of implementation with project team. • Specifies work plan to implement, maintain, or correct conforming software. • Experience in processing and managing large structured, semi-structured and unstructured content.• Understands and works with new software technologies to understand impact and applicability.  Job Specification:• Undergraduate degree (preferred), 15 yrs. relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience. • Hands-on J2EE, WEB Services and Oracle development work experience. • Solid experience developing at an abstract architectural level (e.g., developing for reuse, specifying key interfaces, using metrics and source code analysis to monitor design/architectural conformance and taking corrective action). • Previous experience with object oriented programming languages. • Previous experience with modeling tools. • Previous experience with distributed computing architectures. • Demonstrated technical knowledge of software development life cycle. • Solid abstract thinking ability. • Developed written and oral communication skills. • Diplomatic presentation approach. • Professional demeanor and customer-focused orientation.   NAVTEQ is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer M/F/D/V  JOB TITLE: Lead Software Architect COMPANY: NAVTEQ LOCATION: Chicago, IL 60606 STATUS: Full Time, Employee JOB CATEGORY: IT/Software Development CAREER LEVEL: Experienced (Non-Manager) EDUCATION LEVEL: Bachelor's Degree REFERENCE CODE: 6663-WYL
