JOB DESCRIPTION: Position Summary 

The individual in this position will analyze the telecommunications requirements of the organization and work to develop, improve, maintain, and implement telecommunications technologies. In this role, the individual must plan for the efficient use of corporate resources to plan and implement a corporate communication strategy that provides a robust and reliable communicaitons infrastructure with sufficient capacity for current and future requirements along with considerations for fault-tolerance, redundancy and recovery.

The ideal candidate must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures and rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals set forth by management.
The individual must have a broad understanding of telecom and wide area network technologies and is expected to perform a variety of tasks. The person in this role may lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

The individual in this position is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the corporate telecommunications infrastructure with an emphasis on clarifying business issues and determining appropriate global solutions.  A key consideration in all planning and support activities is working with departmental managers and senior management to assure that technology and services align with strategic corporate objectives.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities
" Maintain production systems (Avaya PBXs) to provide maximum possible availability and restrict outages to planned service windows or time-frames with minimal user impact.
" Identify and develop redundant, fault-tolerant telecommunications technologies to minimize outages of production systems.
" Identify and plan for future capacity of telecommunications resources
" Develop and implement plans for the protection, redundancy and restoration of telecommunications systems in the event of a disaster.
" Investigate and include consideration for security of telecommunications components and corporate assets stored on or transmitted across the Corporate telecommunications infrastructure.
" Maintain full and accurate documentation of all telecommunications facilities
" Perform incoming, out-going, and cross communications analysis.
" Review and redefine processes to improve on their efficiency.
" Perform cost justifications analysis for implementation of new technologies.
" Analyze and recommend the purchase of all related voice equipment.
" Investigate new technology and implement in the corporate voice network.
" Negotiate pricing for local and long distance telecommunications services.
" Provide product awareness and comparison.
" Coordinate with Network staff on advanced data and voice network integration technologies.
" Assumes other duties as assigned/requested


JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Skills 

" Strong interpersonal skill-set
" Strong communication skills; Ability to clearly explain complex business and technical issues, procedures and processes in verbal and written format to an audience of managers and directors.
" Strong AT&T/Lucent Definity-series PBX experience.
" Working knowledge of VOIP
" Strong Cisco Meeting Place experience
" Working knowledge of video conferencing technologies
" Experience negotiating telecommunications contracts.
" Working knowledge of networking technologies.
" Definity PBX and voice station administration.
" Project Planning and Documentation

Education / Experience 

" B.S. degree in a related technical field or relevant experience.
" 5-8 years of Definity PBX administration experience.
" 2-3 years of experience in support and/or implementation of data networks.
