MS SQL Application Developer

CompassLearning, an award-winning educational software company and creator of the OdysseyLearning K-12 series, is hiring an experienced MS SQL Application Developer to play a critical role in meeting its business response needs.

 

As a member of the Business Response Team, you will be responsible for the maintenance of existing systems as well as requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and deployment of new system functionality.  Most projects will be short-term, focused efforts, requiring fast and accurate delivery.  A clear understanding of the data layer and MS SQL implementation details within Enterprise environments is essential.

 

Other responsibilities include monitoring production database/application health and performance, recognizing warning signs of impending problems, and taking action to correct issues before developing into system downtime.

 

Responsibilities:

· Troubleshoot database problems and build efficient solutions in a timely manner.

· Perform testing, identify and document defects, debug, and deploy fixes.

· Identify performance issues and provide solutions within system constraints.

· Interface with IT, Development, and Support teams to quickly resolve application/database issues.

· Monitor production database application in a 24x7 environment.

· Build database tools, scripts, and automated processes.

· Report status and progress to the Director of the Business Response Team.

 

Requirements:

· BS/MS in Computer Science, MIS, or related discipline.

· Minimum 5 years experience in MS SQL application development.

· Experience developing stored procedures, complex queries, and TSQL.

· Experience working as a production DBA in a 24x7 environment.

· Proficient in current software development methodologies.

· Good grasp of hardware and system administration concepts.

· Motivated self-learner with excellent problem solving skills.

· Experience working cooperatively in a team environment.
