Manager International Tax

This position is an integral part of the international tax team and will be involved in a variety of international tax planning and compliance projects. This person will have primary responsibility for the tax planning and compliance matters of Microsoft’s foreign tax credit and Section 861 analysis, and Domestic Production Deduction. Responsibilities: Responsibility for the foreign tax credit analysis and computations including the allocation and apportionment rules of section 861. Assist the International Directors with related analysis to ensure the maximization of FTC and Domestic Production Deduction benefits. Responsible for managing the preparation and review of the 8858’s, 1118, and 1042 including analysis of statements required to be filed and elections required to be made Assist in the preparation and review of other international tax forms, statements and filings. Assist the Controversies group with the Internal Revenue Service and various state department exams of the FSC, 936 and foreign tax credit calculations. Assist in various international tax analyses and planning, perform international tax research, and prepare memorandums on current tax issues and strategies. This position will play a significant role in coordinating with FIT, the Tax Controller and corporate accounting group with regard to the tax data warehouse and will be required to develop a working knowledge of Microsoft financial tools including MARS, MS Sales and SAP in order to gather financial information for the U.S. tax filings and international tax analysis. Review estimates and extensions with regards to FTC’s and Domestic Production Deduction. Assist in international tax analysis and planning to minimize Microsoft's tax liability. Perform international tax research and prepare memorandums on current tax issues. Develop a thorough working knowledge of the outside vendor’s tax compliance software system. Contacts: This position has significant contact with senior level managers within Microsoft Finance, ITG, Operations and outside consultants. The ideal candidate will have a BS/BA in Accounting with 5+ years experience in a Big 5 firm or a large corporation with a concentration in international taxes. A CPA or J.D. is preferred. Preference may be given to a candidate with an LLM or MST. Industry experience a plus. This position requires strong interpersonal, communications, and analytical skills. Candidate must have a working knowledge of Excel, Access, and Word and a strong aptitude for systems. This description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this position.
