Manager of Software Development, Prime The Amazon Prime team is charged with operating and expanding Amazon Prime, Amazon's strategic customer loyalty program.  Our team's mission is high-stakes and high-visibility; our work is fast-paced and ground-breaking. We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager who will be responsible for managing a team of bright, creative and delivery-focused software developers and the technical projects they tackle. As a Manager, you will have the primary responsibility for all project deliverables and act as the single point of contact for all project communication.  You will have a strong, hands-on technical background and the ability to dive deep into technical questions and develop expertise quickly and easily.  You will have experience mentoring and growing both junior and senior software developers.  As a project manager, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints, and do your best to maximize business benefit and build a great Prime customer experience.  You will possess exceptional customer relationship skills, be able to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and structure projects and work in shorter iterative development cycles to help deliver work more reliably and quickly.Strong maturity, judgment, technical skills, influence and negotiation skills, analytical skills, and leadership skills are essential and critical to successful management of programs and projects at this level.  Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in computer science or related field and a minimum of 3 to 5 years relevant technical project management experience.  A graduate degree in computer science, related technical field or an MBA is preferred.  You should be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of project management tools and methodologies, analytical and problem solving skills, and excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
