JOB SUMMARY:
The Marketing Communications Specialist is responsible for a variety of strategic Marketing Communications functions including collateral development, print and online advertising programs, lead generation campaigns, customer retention campaigns, and online activities for both external (customer and new prospects) and internal (sales, employees, and others) programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
As a member of the Marketing Communications team, and under the direction of the Sr. Manager, Marketing Communications:Develop, plan, and execute marketing communications and targeted, multi-touch lead generation programs that drive awareness and demand for Websense solutions in alignment with corporate sales and marketing initiatives and goals. Act as project lead, coordinating input from project sponsors and other constituents and ensuring that deadlines are met; provide creative direction on advertising and promotions; manage relationships with outside services as required. Assist in establishing objectives and strategies to market company products, positioning and messaging. Act a creative catalyst, proactively suggesting new means/methods/vehicles for achieving the organization’s marketing and lead generation goals. Collaborate with peers, management, and external consultants on appropriate messaging and positioning of the organization, as well as its products and services.Manage relationships with media partners and other third-party vendors to evaluate programs for their alignment with Websense marketing strategy, ensure relevance of programs and message to their audience and to meet program goals and objectives.Write content for marketing collateral, online advertising, print advertising, search engine optimization, and other promotional programs as needed; Extract key points from project sponsors and translate them into effective marketing copy and communications for use by Websense offices, both domestic and international.Coordinate the design/layout, production, and distribution of promotional and collateral materials to support sales and marketing programs.Manage lead nurturing campaigns through email and cross-marketing of campaigns.Help promote brand awareness by ensuring the corporate image is consistent throughout product lines, promotional materials, and events.Participate as a key member of the Marketing Communications team by acting as an evangelist within Websense, being a positive voice in helping them to understand marketing communication standards.Provide post-program analysis and regular status reports on marketing and lead generation programs; recommend improvements to improve ROI.Special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field from a four-year accredited college/university.Minimum of five years related marketing experience; strong marketing background in the technology industry (preferably software) with an agency or corporation. Media agency/media management experience desired.Exceptional written and oral communication skills; solid editing and proofreading abilities; writing samples required; excellent project management capabilities. Demonstrated experience in writing effective content for the Web, as well traditional print media.Highly organized with excellent project management skills and attention to detail.Ability to multi-task across multiple projects. Ability to drive, execute, and analyze programs within budget.Ability to work well under pressure in fast-paced environment with multiple strict deadlines.Excellent computer skills including MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint. DreamWeaver, HTML, Quark Xpress, Adobe InDesign experience a plus but not required.
