Title: Solutions Architect, .NET

Salary: $100,000 - $140,000

Description
 
The Solution Architect will have responsibility for the overall technical solution architecture for the organizations DESC system.  The successful candidate will have a minimum of ten (10) years progressively senior experience in application development and application architecture. This individual will join an enthusiastic, fast-paced and dynamic project team.  Sustained exceptional performance, innovation, creativity, insight, good judgment and sound leadership are daily requirements.
 
Key Responsibilities
Defines overall technical architecture & roadmap for the department system
Formalize application architecture strategy
Owns application architecture standards, policies and procedures
Ensure relevant policies and procedures are well understood by the development organization and fully integrated into day-to-day procedures
Provide deep technical/architecture guidance to project teams
Documenting standards, procedures for the definition of reference architectures, patterns, etc.
Work with Program leadership, business analysts, data and technical architects and business sponsors to ensure that business requirements are met through developed solutions
Performs prototyping and initiates application development efforts
Works with operations and development teams to ensure the ongoing performance and scalability of applications
Participates in architecture Centre Of Excellence
Assist with recruiting and appraisal of team members
 
 
Qualifications
The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
10+ years experience designing, building and deploying enterprise solutions with exposure to multiple software packages/vendors, programming languages and technology platforms
Extensive experience with systems architectural concepts and frameworks
Knowledge and experience with agile and object-oriented methodologies, notations, and processes: Rational Unified Process, Extreme Programming, Unified Modeling Language (UML), design patterns, refactoring
Extensive experience with the .NET framework and other technologies: C#, Visual Basic.NET, ASP.NET, ASP, JavaScript, Visual Basic Script, Transactional development, asynchronous processing, HTML and DHTML, XML, XSLT, LDAP, .NET Enterprise Services,
Extensive experience designing and/or developing solutions in a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
Proficiency with J2EE technologies a plus
Experience with server software including IIS, MS SharePoint, Enterprise content management systems, MSMQ, Biztalk, Active Directory, .NET remoting, and Search engines is a plus
Strong understanding of infrastructure and security concepts.  Working experience with server farms, firewalls, networks, and distributed systems a plus
Experience with database and metadata modeling
Extremely proficient in SQL Server (5+ years)
Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is desired
Experience with data and application integration issues, solutions and tools
Ability to prepare and make presentations to Program leadership on architectural approaches and models to gain consensus
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Flexibility, energy and ability to work well with others in a team environment
Bachelor’s Degree in technical field
Microsoft Certified Software Developer (MCSD) and/or Microsoft Certified Applications Developer (MCAD) a plus
