NETWORK ENGINEER

We are looking for a motivated individual that is well-versed in IP networking and Cisco telephony.  Standard system engineering expertise in common Windows and Unix tools and applications is required.  The ideal candidate will be flexible and will flourish in a fast paced start-up company environment. He or she should be a self starter and have excellent motivation and customer service skills to excel at this position.

Responsibilities

Ø  Install and configure servers, network equipment, telephony devices, and other IT datacenter systems.

Ø  Install and configure Cisco IP Telephones for new and existing SpaceX employees.

Ø  Support SpaceX with the regular maintenance of monitoring, backup, and infrastructure systems.

Ø  Provide after-hours or weekend support when necessary to perform high-risk or planned downtime of SpaceX IT systems for upgrades and maintenance.

Ø  Provide support to SpaceX employees who require assistance with their IP Telephones, Voice Mail service and IP Fax service.

Qualifications & Requirements

Ø  Familiarity with basic Unity configuration such as adding and deleting mailboxes

Ø  Basic familiarity with Cisco Gateways and connectivity requirements for FXO & FXS services

Ø  Expert level experience with Cisco networking, VPNs, Multicast, IP routing protocols, Microsoft technologies, and IP networks.

Ø  Ability to write instructional documentation and convey highly technical ideas in terms regular (non geeks) can understand.

Ø  To help SpaceX operate in an email heavy, paperless culture, a fast typist is preferred.

Ø  Motivated self-starter personality, able to work independently while maintaining patience with the constant interruptions of needy coworkers.

Ø  Must be physically fit enough to regularly lift up to 50 lbs. for duties such as rack-mounting network equipment and servers.
