NOC Technician

Job Overview:

This candidate will provide specialized technical monitoring and recovery support and services for the network and centrally managed multi-platform systems environment

Anticipates emergent situations for all available data sources and assists in the contacting of essential/critical personnel as required.

Provides leadership in resolving network and system problems and selects and follows appropriate outage/recovery procedures.

Reviews trouble tickets and ticket procedure to ensure that tickets are completed with pertinent information and assigns them to the correct department for action.

Interfaces effectively with other departments, telecommunications providers, and vendors

Performs searches in internal company databases for circuit order detail, customer information, outage notifications, POP/Switch site information, escalations, and other tasks as required.

This position provides training in the proper policies and procedures for all shift personnel and maintains complete accurate documentation of each network event

 

 

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

 

Required:

• 2+ years in helpdesk or network operations center comprised of multi-platform and operating systems

• Solid troubleshooting experience with networks and servers

• Working knowledge of network equipment and distribution media

• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and protocols.

 

Preferences:

• Certification in A+, Network+, MCP.

• Working knowledge of Windows Server operating system basic commands and procedures.

• Working knowledge of network and server operating environments.

• Working understanding of firewalls, servers, network switches and routers.

• Working knowledge of networking protocols, TCP/IP, SMTP, VPN, PPTP and SNMP.

• Working knowledge of Terminal Services and other Remote Administration utilities.

 

This position is for part time on weekends, working two twelve hour shifts.  Training will conducted during regular business hours during the first two to three weeks of employment. The candidate must also be flexible, should the need arise, to cover a shift during the week.
