Network Assistant

JOB SUMMARY: As a part of our client achieving operational and productivity success, it relies on information systems to facilitate, manage and report on operations. These information systems reside on a computer network, which includes workstations and servers, and spans various physical and remove locations. The Network Assistant's primary duties will involve basic maintenance and organization of this computer network and the information it contains. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Service to the Company and its system users will serve as the principal goal. Maintain a secure and continuous operating environment for the network and its users Protect the network and its users from invasion of outside viruses and other contaminants Provide a sound network technology for communication within the company and outside the company Roll network policies to achieve the above objectives Maintain an adequate knowledge of developments in the IT community. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist all client users with hardware and software problems, as capabilities allow, so they may perform their required functions as productively as possible Organize and maintain all basic network hardware, user workstations and their compnents, including maintaining a documented inventory of this hardware. Organize and maintain all system software and manuals. Repair and replace hardware as resources and capabilities allow, documenting repetitive procedures Configure and maintain servers and workstations as capabilities allow, according to company standards for hardware, operating systems, and company applications Upgrade and install new hardware and software as resources and capabilities allow, documenting and automating repetitive procedures Update or develop the documentation of vital network and system procedures as capabilities allow Manage security for the various server systems and individual user stations or files Learn about, work with, or implement new technology for the company as resources and capabilities allow Learn and develop information tools and reports using Jet Reports as capabilities allow Learn to perform Systems / Business Analysis in areas to assist company operations with applications reporting Establish and maintain a service function for user requests regarding problems, issues, or needs on hardware, operating systems, or company applications. ______________________________________________________ Need flexibility in your work schedule?
