Network Engineer
The Network Engineer in the Phase Forward Production Operations group is responsible for assisting with the configuration and support of all network related components in the corporate production ASP environment. As a Network Engineer at Phase Forward, you will provide thought and support leadership for Phase Forward's production Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, VPN and F5 content switches. The Network Engineer position is part of the production engineering team that performs systems engineering tasks and rotational work in a fast-paced, team-based environment. This position is highly visible; responsibilities are for critical production systems and environments.
• Develop, manage, and maintain a scalable production environment for hosting mission critical applications in an environment with limited or no downtime.
• Work with other team members and groups to develop scalable network designs, solutions and policy recommendations.
• Identify, research, evaluate and recommend network related tools and emerging network technologies
• Support existing Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, VPN and F5 content switches throughout Phase Forward's production data centers.
• Participate in the "on call" schedule with other members of the team
• Demonstrable expertise in managing a secure, reliable network in a production environment.
• Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, to appropriate management.
• Self-managed and self-motivated.
• Maintain and update documentation and schematics of production communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations.
• Testing and integration of new production networks technologies and upgrades to the Production environment.
• Developing maintenance routines on all equipment, monitoring logs
• Write and maintain documentation or review documentation written by others that describes installation, operating, and maintenance procedures.
• 3+ years experience with the enterprise level network design
• 4 year college degree, Computer Science major preferred
• Network certification or equivalent training/experience preferred such as CCNA
• Must have superior network routing protocol troubleshooting skills including: BGP, OSPF, and MPLS
• Extensive knowledge and experience with a Cisco routers and switches
• Knowledge of Cisco VPN Concentrators, VPN technologies and ASA Firewalls.
• Extensive experience with Multicast, 802.3, 802.1q and Spanning Tree
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, GRE, IPSec, POS, PPP, VRRP, HSRP, and SNMP protocols
• Maintain & troubleshoot F5 load-balancers.
• Operational experience with security issues and access control mechanisms such as access-lists
• In-depth knowledge of standard network change management and configuration policies
• Experience with network monitoring and other network administrative tools
• Develop and write recommendations for departmental policies, procedures, technical standards and guidelines.
• Develop and write infrastructure system documentation standards for deployment and ongoing maintenance
• Support and lead implementation of network infrastructure.
• Experience mentoring network team members
