Akamai - Powering a Better Internet. The Akamai Network Operations Command Center (NOCC) team you will be joining is responsible for the availability for Akamai’s deployed network. To achieve this goal the NOCC is responsible to: * Monitor Akamai’s deployed network. * Investigate service interruptions and determine the root cause. * Resolve service interruptions either within the NOCC or by escalating to other entities inside or outside of Akamai. * Manage and track events through resolution and maintaining a history of network-impacting issues. * Provide ongoing maintenance and administration for the deployed network. Our Network Operations Engineer responsibilities include: * Diagnosing troubles identified by network monitoring and working to resolve issues. * Monitoring, troubleshooting & correcting server and network problems and live network broadcasting issues. * Working with various third parties (Engineers, System Architects, Infrastructure Vendors, Customers, Developers) to narrow down problems and achieve resolution. * Clearly and effectively documenting information in the Trouble Ticket system for communication to other staff, to open tickets and follow up on escalated problems. Basic Qualification: * Education: BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent. * Overall Experience: 5-7 years or equivalent experience * 3 years of experience with implementation and support of large, complex, IP-based networks or equivalent experience * 3 years of experience with UNIX system administration or equivalent experience * 3 years of experience with scripting or equivalent experience * 2 years of experience with project engineering or equivalent experience Desired Qualifications: * Working knowledge of TCP/IP internetworking/WAN data communications. * Understanding of routing and routing concepts. * Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational skills, and a demonstrated history of high-level achievement in cross-functional organizations.
