Job Description:

 

Maintain, monitor, troubleshoot and resolve LAN, WAN, telecommunications and various related system/network problems in a fast paced, 24/7, multitasking environment. Provide support for all Ipreo applications and have a good understanding of windows server 2000, windows server 2003 and active directory. Provide level 1 support to server engineering and provide Level 2 support to Netops, corporate users, customers and clients for existing internal corporate and external production infrastructures.  Open & track telecom service provider trouble tickets, as well as implementation for new network operations projects.

 

 

Required Skills:

 

Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Must be an organized self-starter; able to follow complex directions, processes, project management / planning and status reporting. 

Should be familiar with different forms of networking equipment including, but not limited to Cisco routers, Cisco layer 2/3 switches. Should be familiar with windows 2000, 2003, XP and worked with Active Directory and have basic understanding of SQL Database.

Experience with network management tools such as HP OpenView, CiscoWorks and MRTG as well as systems/application tools such as MOM, SitesScope and scripting capabilities are pluses.

 

 

Must be flexible to work any shift or shift rotation in a high paced 24/7 operations environment. This coudl include overnight hours and weekends. 

 

Experience:

 

- 1-2 years experience with Cisco Layer 2 & 3 devices and familiarity the Cisco IOS. 

- Basic understanding of Lan/Wan Technologies in a corporate environment.

- Basic understanding of Point to Point circuits including ISDN.

- Interface with the customers and vendors using good people skills.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP and IP routing protocols, particularly EIGRP.

- Prior experience working in mission-critical financial environment is a plus.

- Good understanding of Windows 2000/2003.

- Good understanding of Active directory.

- Working knowledge of backups.

 

Pluses:

- VB Scripting skills

- Object oriented programming background
