Network/Systems Administrator for Insomniac Games

Superheros Wanted**:  A network/systems admin who is not afraid to jump server towers in a single leap, crawl under desks, whose archenemy is a fried computer, and who can stop runaway connectivity issues with one glance.  We are looking for someone who is not averse to pulling out all the stops to figure out what is happening… with the help of a magic screwdriver, a power cord, or a powerful wrench!  Insomniac Games is looking for a go-to person who is up for the challenges- both big and small… if this sounds like your idea of a great adventure, then we are ready to for you to save the day!

Overview: This position responds as first level support for all connectivity and network issues, and responds as 2nd level support to all user problems with PC's, phone, servers and networking equipment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities that said super network administrator will do include the following:

 

· 1st level support for all pc connectivity issues, external connectivity issues, server and services monitoring. 

 

· Troubleshoot potential production problems regarding online game testing.

 

· 2nd level support, all incoming user issues/problems (ranging from basic application support (Microsoft Windows, Office), to specific application support (Maya, internal tools)

 

· Support for backup and recovery systems and information.

 

· Support for purchasing, maintaining and tracking software, hardware, non PC hardware, retail consoles, and A/V equipment.

 

· Support for setting up, tracking and deploying proprietary hardware such as Development kits and Test kits. Responsible for installing and troubleshooting proprietary software.

 

What powers you bring in your bag of tricks: 

· Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

· Great oral & written Communication Skills

· Well organized, detail oriented, self motivated

· Team Player- everyone needs their team of “connectivity-fighters”

 

While performing the duties of this job, one must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds- so know that you will be called upon to do some moving of computers, monitors, and dev kits (oh my!)…
