Job Purpose:

 

To develop and manage the evolving features of a new website concept. This website is a Social Networking style website with a media rich interface designed to allow musicians to share their experiences with other musicians. More specific details will be provided once a Non Disclosure Agreement has been signed.

 

 

Duties: Utilize development and staging platforms to develop the features to enhance the online website. Plans Web applications by evaluating user specifications; analyzing existing and proposed systems; creating requirements documents including set-up, scripts, hardware, network, database development, security, server management, and installation; identifying constraints and technical issues; preparing systems development life cycle plan. Develops Web applications by studying existing technology architecture; analyzing browser compatibility techniques; evaluating solution alternatives; developing prototypes; building n-tier, scalable, and multimedia applications; programming objects, events, functions, error trapping, data verification, animations, interactions, and dynamic updating; designing, installing, and configuring databases; completing documentation. Develops user interfaces by preparing a workflow chart and diagram based on subject matter, human factors, and logic; writing queries involving table alterations, views, selects, inner and outer joins, and optimized queries. Integrates applications by studying and establishing connectivity with network systems, databases, search engines, and information servers. Confirms Web applications by planning and conducting tests; modifying program sequence and/or debugging codes; resolving problems. Maintains team accomplishments by communicating essential information; coordinating actions; obtaining expert input; reviewing open issues and action items; contributing information to team meetings and reports. Reduces costs and improves serviceability by preparing reusable component design. Updates job knowledge by researching new web technologies; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  Linux, Apache (2), PHP (5) and MySQL (5) (LAMP) knowledgeable developer Excellent Troubleshooting skills - you will need this without a doubt. Strict XHTML / CSS  compliance The ability to do website layouts and designs and incorporate them into your web application Web 2.0 designs and layout implementations Application Protocol Interface (API) experience to include Google Maps, FaceBook, Yahoo, XML Syndication and parsing, and any other kind of online API experience. This will be a very large part of your tasks. Drupal CMS utilizing various Drupal modules and Views style / phptemplate theming engine. Very strong understanding of MySQL database schemas, backup procedures, replication, table types, and etc.  You must know MySQL from the command line and how to utilize applications effectively to manage data in that format. Video / Audio  conversion and streaming, to include podcasting and etc, as this will be a feature on our site. The ability to quickly jump into a project and utilize all methods possible to enhance your knowledge and understanding of the project as fast as possible. We are not hiring you as an intern, we are hiring you as a professional that can get started immediately. We want you to show us how it's done. The ability to utilize Adobe Photoshop or related applications to generate standard web icons, graphics and etc, to fit into the flow of the website. The ability to manage and alter Flash applications to utilize external XML files that are dynamically generated from random sources The ability to configure SWFObject, jquery and various Javascript style applications. AJAX understanding and implementation through jquery and PHP The ability to manipulate graphics using ImageMagick, GD libraries and etc.



 

Employment Location:

 

This job IS NOT available for Telecommuting. We want an in-house employee that we can discuss plans and view progress with on a daily basis. We will not accept telecommutes, and you must be able to make it to work on time, when expected, and fulfill your employment obligations with a good positive attitude. We already have an office and a nice computer setup for this position, and you are to be working with up to 5 other employees that are working on other aspects of this project.
