Oracle Database/Websphere Administrator

KCRS, Inc has an immediate need for an Oracle Database/Websphere Administrator

Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for the administration and support of the company’s Oracle RDBMS (Relational Database Management Systems)

 

Essential Functions:

•  Ensuring database availability as per requirements

•  Managing database backup and recovery using RMAN

•  Managing database security

•  Ensuring adequate performance of the RDBMS

•  Undertaking problem resolution including the application of RDBMS bugfixes

•  Performing proactive monitoring of the RDBMS and regular infrastructure reviews

•  Performing build and configuration of the RDBMS

•  Support and maintain Oracle database applications.

Secondary Functions:

1. Assist with application and user support when needed.

2.  Performs work in Websphere application development, systems design, systems analysis, and technical leadership in a multi-dimensional environment

Job Requirements:

•  3 years experience as a DBA, 18 months of which are in a Production support capacity in a Linux/Unix environment

* Minimum 2-3 years experience as a Websphere Administrator preferred.

•  Strong SQL knowledge is essential, PL/SQL is a plus

•  Experience of administration of Oracle Application Server/BI Server is a significant plus

•  A degree in Computer Science is preferred

•  OCP is preferred but not essential

•  Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

•  Must be a self-starter and have the ability to provide on-call support when required without supervision.

*  Experience using Websphere to develop and manage JAVA applications and EJB components to enable interactions with enterprise databases, transaction processing systems, and other applications.
