PC/Desktop Support

Job Description:  Working under minimal supervision to provide support to PC and lan end users in response to user requests and questions related to hardware and software. This position also handles repairing PC equipment (laptops and desktops). This position provides technical assistance to the junior members. Assists in installation, maintenance and usage for the company’s local area network. Assists in the establishment of the PC lan procedures regarding access methods, metrics and security validation checks and documentation. Also provide trouble shooting and installation of data networking equipment, voice equipment and their related cabling requirements.40% - Determine, analyze and respond to trouble calls for PC hardware, PC software, data networking equipment, voice equipment and the actual repair responsibilities that go along with this equipment.25% - Analyze and recommend software and hardware needs for end users.25% - Participate in projects involving moves and installs of PC and phone equipment as well as projects supporting the corporate network design groups.10% - Participate in special internal projects as assigned. Requirements:Knowledge and experience with MS Windows operating systems 2000 & XP (5 years experience).Knowledge and experience with hardware configuring of desktops and network printers (5 years experience).Usable knowledge of MS Office products especially Excel and Word.Demonstrable verbal communication skills since this position involves direct contact with end users.Written communication skills are needed to report on task progress to management and end users.Experience with IBM and HP desktops/laptops along with related software aspects of Windows operating systems of XP & 2000.Technical/Trade Business certificate (i.e. A+) or Associate Degree with some compensation of work experience.Work independently with minimal supervisions following directions and demonstrating good time management skills.Reliable and teamwork skills are key.Proficient with hand tools as well as basic trouble shooting techniques.Must possess a valid resident state drivers license and a good standing drivers record.A reliable vehicle is required by the candidate for occasional travel to other sites for on call or other support. Additional Preferred Skills:General network equipment knowledge, ie Cisco switches and routers.Any Microsoft certificates.Hardware vendor certificates.
