Candidate must be proficient with Unix platforms. Position requires at least 5 years experience with object oriented design and programming using a high-level language like C++ or Java. Must have experience building web applications including use of HTML, or dHTML or XML or XHTML or CSS. 3 years experience with Perl or PHP or JavaScript required. Position requires at least 2 years experience with a SQL relational database management system such as Oracle or MySQL. 3 years experience in a Project Management roll required.  Responsibilities: 1.  Provide technical site infrastructure oversight.  Help establish standard for a clean site structure, template and component structure and overall functionality of the sites.  Will lead and direct the work of others.2.  Oversee the daily web publishing efforts insuring automated publishing system are working correctly.3.  Lead the Programmers and Designers as they develop, update, maintain and oversee application programs used in the creation of our web sites.  Provide web based database programming support.Other responsibilities: 4. Provide project management leadership for the department.  Coordinate all production projects to support Content, Advertising and Marketing.5.  Working with the News Director and Content Producers, maintain an organized structure for content, photos, multi-media, etc while providing a compelling user experience for the end user. 6.  Manage the technical aspects our content integration with outside vendors for news feeds, database information services, product features and rich media support.  Document data structures and procedures.7.  Stay on the cutting edge of web publishing technologies including CSS, DHTML, Flash, etc and insure that proper training is provided to your staff so they stay up on this same technology.  Establish standards of excellence for the Interactive team, including expectations of accuracy, initiative and progressive improvement in technological skills.8.  Must be able to recognize trends and working with management develop long-term strategic goals. Nice to have Skills:  Experience with Apache HTTPD, AJAX and JSP desired. Experienced with internet related transport protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP and FTP. Experience developing ActiveX controls and Netscape plug-ins desired. Ability to learn new languages and interpret or re-work legacy code. The ability to multi-task and thrive in a highly collaborative enviornment. Self-motivated with strong work ethics. Must have strong oral and written communication skills as well as provide excellent customer service. Phone screen followed by in person interview.
