Pre Sales Systems Engineer
Job Description:
The Pre-Sales System Engineer’s primary responsibility is to provide the technical expertise and assistance necessary to achieve and exceed territory quota. Candidates for this position should have experience attaining quota and achieving major sales objectives. This is a field position with approximately 50% to 75% travel and based in the local geography. The System Engineer works cooperatively in a team effort with Account Managers and Account Coordinators to identify key customers, strategic partners and resellers, as well as assisting in planning sales strategy. A portion of their responsibilities will also include nurturing and selling additional products and services existing customers.
Essential Functions:
The System Engineer is responsible for providing and presenting technical and business information for all Persystent products to all buying influences in any organization: engineers/technical, buyers, CIOs, and department heads. The System Engineer effectively and proficiently describes functionality, provides details as to product features, competitive analysis, demonstrates, installs, and supports Persystent products to ensure a technical win is obtained.
The System Engineer is responsible for presenting and providing technical information necessary for end-users, prospects, and customers to successfully implement Persystent solutions. The Account Managers are responsible for the overall management of these accounts, while the System Engineer works closely with his team through both the technical win and business win.
In order to build a successful team and territory, the Pre-Sales System Engineer will work closely with regional technical groups, industry analysts, and System Engineers to evangelize Persystent’s solutions. These efforts will include trade shows, seminars, presentations to large groups, and the authoring of white papers.
The System Engineer will be the technical lead on all large bid opportunities in the territory. This will require the ability to work closely with development to translate customer requirements for product enhancements and new solutions.
The System Engineer has the primary responsibility for presales technical support within the region. This requires the individual to obtain necessary resources to ensure successful evaluations and implementation of Persystent’s product line.
The System Engineer is responsible for providing active feedback on pre-released product documentation.
The System Engineer is responsible for providing account status updates and entering sales account information into the sales tracking database.
Required qualifications include:
• BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or the equivalent with at least five years of related work experience in pre or post sales support.
• Knowledge of common desktop management methodologies such as imaging, software distribution, application packaging, and scripting.
• Advanced technical knowledge of, but not limited to all Windows OS platforms (XP, Vista, 2003 server), and Linux.
• Expertise in basic networking fundamentals including routing, switching, multicast protocols, DHCP, and DNS.
• Candidates must possess excellent written/verbal communication skills, technical sales ability, influence ability, initiative and interpersonal skills including the ability to quickly develop customer respect, trust, and confidence.
• Outstanding customer relationship and presentation skills including the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts visually and orally.
• Job requires the ability to travel 50% to 75% of the time and work overtime on short notice.
Additional qualifications include:
• Microsoft Certified Product Specialist
• MCSE Certification a plus
• Systems Management Experience – SMS, Altiris, Unicenter, Tivoli, a plus.
• Large enterprise experience (5000+ users) a plus
• Working knowledge of Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) technology a plus
• Highly motivated with excellent work ethic, energy, initiative and a team attitude.
• You must have an ongoing desire to stay current with software market and the latest technologies.
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to work from a remote office in the field.
• Desire to work in a fast paced dynamic environment.
