Emerging leader in the wireless applications and multimedia space based in San Diego is looking to grow their software engineering team. To keep up with new projects, they are looking to add a Chief Software Engineer with a strong wireless handset and/or mobile applications background to ensure that their next-generation products are of the highest quality.  Upcoming projects include developing web-connectivity applications for mobile devices and other cutting-edge technologies still in the design phase. Customers include leading handset companies and carriers worldwide who utilize this software and wireless services, so demand will continue to grow!

 

Additional responsibilities:

 

· Responsible for technical reviews of all designs, code, and implementation of embedded mobile software in an integrated R&D environment.

· Managing and monitoring the progress of all software projects from beginning to end for 3 locations, including San Diego.

· Responsible for analyzing embedded software requirements, real time performance and memory constraints.

· Responsible for  risk analysis and feasibility of designs, as well as code results.

· Working across business units to ensure timely delivery of products.

· Reporting to management regarding project status, critical path issues, etc.

· Responsible for design reviews, code walkthroughs, exchange meetings, SEI CMM, and related activities.

· Responsible for technical direction and mentoring of other embedded software engineers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 Must have experience in technical overviews of design and development of real time embedded software (C, C++).Must have experience with real time OS (such as Nucleus, Embedded Linux, etc.)Must have solid understanding of embedded systems.Must have strong knowledge of Internet / IP protocols and implementations.Must have strong verbal communication skills and interest in mentoring other engineers.Plusses:  ARM; mobile systems design using GSM, GPRS, or SCDMA ; Mobile MMI and UI;  OMA protocols and applications; cellular messaging like MMS  or SMS; Multimedia transmission/encoding (MPEG4, MP3); embedded software device drivers; SVG: J2ME technology; Mobile OS; and Mobile chipsets and application processors. Must have degree in Computer Science or related field.Must  have hands-on experience developing C / C++ code.Must have passion for developing leading edge software.
