We invite you to Max Your Edge.Networking is the future of gaming.  With the success of our WAP, LAP, and Monopoly Big Event products and the submission of our Server Support Gaming Service, WMS is positioning itself as the leader in networked based entertainment.  Join us as we continue to fundamentally change the way people experience slots through new and innovative networking applications. We are looking for a Principal Engineer to help us design and implement a high-performance database-driven player repository and associated end user facing web-based applications. You are passionate about social networking and the power of the wire to bring people together to collaborate, compete, share their experiences, and tell their stories.  Not only that, but you are also someone with mad design and coding skills that can convert that passion into real products and transform someone’s life.  You are a database and network technologist and know the meaning of “Servicing Oriented Architecture” without consulting Wikipedia, having applied it to the design of distributed systems in the past.  You are customer focused and thrive in cross-group collaborative team environments yet you are a versatile individual contributor.  You have a proven track record of shipping highly-scalable and reliable web-enabled services through multiple product cycles while dealing with challenges such as cross-team dependencies, rapid shipping schedules, and a constantly evolving ecosystem and competitor landscape.  Your skills include software design, database design and optimization, system performance tuning, web services, and detailed specification writing.  You are also a great communicator and will be expected to engage heavily with the leaders of existing Product Management, Program Management, Network Systems, OS, Games, Strategy, and R&D teams to drive new product ideas in a cohesive and timely manner and convert those into profitable new products. Qualifications Required BS or higher in Computer Science or Engineering 7 mores years experience as a Software Engineer in application software development or equivalent experience Minimum 5 years experience with relational database design and optimization of MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL,  or Oracle Minimum 3 years experience implementing web service interfaces for heterogeneous system Experience Proven tack record of designing reliable, scalable, platform-independent distributed systems and corresponding end user facing web applications Experience with key underlying service and open web technologies (SOA, SOAP, XML, WSDL, TCP, UDP, IP, HTTP, IPC) required Linux (Unix) platform development experience Ability to engineer new code, and work with/enhance an existing code base Ability to work as an individual contributor with minimal supervision Ability to work in deadline driven environment, and response creatively to pressure Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously Excellent trouble-shooting skills Experience with a complier/development-environment and tools Experience with source-code control software: CVS, ClearCase, etc Experience with web servers like Apache, Tomcat, JBoss, BEA WebLogic is a plus Knowledge of MVC frameworks is a plus Experience with Agile Methodologies such as Extreme Programming and/or SCRUM a definite plus Experience with networked multiplayer gaming technologies a definite plus Experience in the casino slot industry a plus Skills and Abilities Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be able to Lead a team of engineers to formulate and execute solutions to problems and issues Must have ability to work in multidisciplinary teams across a wide range of projects Must be highly organized, flexible, and bring a positive energy to the teamPLEASE CLICK HERE TO APPLY ONLINE: http://search4.smartsearchonline.com/wmsgaming/jobs/jobdetails.asp?job_number=2270The job description should not be interpreted as all-inclusive; it is intended to indentify major responsibilities and requirements of the job.  The incumbent may requested to perform other job-related tasks and responsibilities than those stated above.WMS encourages diversity and is an equal opportunity employer.
