Job Description The System Management Products (SMP) group provides the vision, direction and core technology used to manage Oracle's platform and applications products. Oracle's flagship management product, Oracle Enterprise Manager, is the centerpiece of Oracle's grid management solution and is critical to Oracle's success in dramatically lowering the cost of ownership (TCO) of Oracle's product family. The configuration management group within SMP stands at the confluence of service discovery, polices & compliance, change detection & tracking as well as supportability. The Oracle Configuration Manager is a product component that is bundled with every software component shipped by Oracle. The OCM mission is to collect software configuration and diagnostic information related to reducing the mean time to resolve customer issues as well as provide business intelligence in offering better products to customers. Innovative in its design, the project consists of   *  a customer support portal that allows customers to manage their configurations, detect problems and submit problem reports  *  collector that performs configuration and mining of diagnostic data  *  a content server (implemented as a J2EE application) that provides  *  software updates of the OCM collector in a zero-effort manner  *  a data warehouse of the retrieved information. Members of the team are exposed to all aspects of the project as well as all Oracle products that require support by the OCM collector. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization.  As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. The OCM collector is a lightweight / transparent collector that interfaces with a large scalable service hosted at Oracle. The project work exercises individuals skills in providing highly performant solutions that scale to large number of concurrent operations being satisfied by the servers at Oracle. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing requirements. Duties and tasks are varied and complex requiring independent judgment. Growth possibilities abound in this fledgeling group. Help define the future of how Oracle interacts with its customer base.
