Principal System Adminstrator RSA, The Security Division of EMC is headquartered in Bedford, Massachusetts. SummaryPerforms diversified and broad complex administrative duties for organization Executive, typically Senior Management level or equivalent, who is responsible for a major function such as operations, finance or sales. May take and transcribe dictation of a complex and confidential nature and assists in designated administrative details using initiative and judgment. Demonstrates knowledge of company policy, organization, and a high level of technical skill. Uses general office equipment and PC in performing assigned tasks. Answers telephone and takes and relays messages. Position Description: Ensures optimum information access and server infrastructure performance and integrity Ensures consistency and synchronization across server platform and integrates other infrastructure components Ensures server performance optimization and maintenance by following operational procedures for maintaining and upgrading server platforms Involved in supporting new and existing applications Works with other IT groups and business units Troubleshoots and resolves technical problems and is regarded as a knowledgeable in one or more system platforms Mentors less experienced system administrators Qualifications: A self-motivated person who is able to work on multiple projects Able to maintain a positive and cooperative attitude in sometimes stressful situations Able to prioritize projects with respect to milestones and deadlines Willing to work as part of a global team and share responsibilities when needed A person who looks for new and innovative ways to resolve problems Flexible and willing to learn new technologies and applications Interoperate with other network groups The ability to actively seek customer input and take responsibility for customer situations if necessary Able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers possessing a wide range of technical knowledge Excellent Customer Service Skills Primary Responsibilities: Leverage industry best practices in Service Management; promote a quality customer support and service culture to achieve operational excellence and customer satisfaction Interface with internal organizations on a day-to-day basis providing problem resolution and configuration support for all RSA/EMC IAAG products and services Evaluate and analyze systems, performance, issues and metrics in order to provide recommendations for service improvements Install, configure hardware, operating systems and applications in support of RSA/EMC IAAG Hosted products and services Perform management and maintenance of servers and associated operating systems, core infrastructure components to include upgrades, enhancements, audits, data backups, logging and preventative maintenance Monitor all systems to ensure maximum performance and availability to users Maintain current knowledge of new technologies and identifies possible software applications to meet RSA/EMC IAAG Service infrastructure needs Develop, monitor, and communicate changes to department policies and procedures clearly and timely Communicate and provide regular status, performance and operational reports to Management Create and maintain high-quality documentation of all relevant specifications, systems, and procedures Work closely with the development engineering and Application Support teams to ensure timely resolution of bug fixes Coach/mentor junior engineers and serve as a senior technical resource to direct and resolve complex and critical problem escalations. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in a technical discipline OR demonstrated performance in a technical work environment Minimum of 3+ years working in a highly available datacenter environment Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2003, Active Directory, DNS, IIS and related services Strong Knowledge of Linux Operation Systems components and/or Unix systems Strong troubleshooting skills and can sort through complex issues and conduct comparative analysis of multiple solutions Knowledge of Network load-balancers, routers, firewalls, switches and internet networking, management and security protocols Experience with technical projects such as software deployment, systems infrastructure, business process improvement Must be able to demonstrate basic understanding of project management principles Must have a proven track record for working effectively with technical and business functions Must be a strong team player, be quality conscious, have excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills, and be highly self motivated Microsoft and/or Cisco certifications is a plus Knowledge with EMC and/or SAN storage solutions and fiber channel switching is a plus Knowledge of Oracle is a plus Knowledge of Veritas Knowledge of AppManager, AdventNet Preferred or Desired Qualifications: Growth in technical skills through certifications or other similar achievements Programming and or scripting experience a plus.
