Principle Software Engineer

Job Title: Principle Software Engineer

Location: Longmont, CO 80501

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Interact with business-level organization to interpret business product requirements and translate them into technical documents.

- Design and develop software to integrate kernel-level storage software with native MAID arrays.

- Design software interface, data structure and algorithm designs to achieve expected functionality and performance.

- Develop compiled and/or interpreted code and packaging to deliver required functionality.

- Collaborate with software test personnel to validate and improve design, functionality, and performance.

- Document best practices for implementation and use of the integrated software components.

- Interface with third-party vendors and open-source communities providing integration support.

 

Required Education, Experience and Abilities:

- Extensive experience with Solaris and Linux development environments.

- Minimum of four years of experience developing JAVA applications including J2SE, Swing/Awt, Multi-threading programming, J2EE (servlets, tomcat, JDBC), GUI and JNI.

- Must be proficient in C and C++, Multi-threading programming with POSIX libraries, STL

- Experience in design and development of network protocols and data movement.

- Strong understanding of archiving/storage technologies, including VTDs, MMS and VTLs

- In depth knowledge of OS internals and file systems. Linux kernel development experience, kernel troubleshooting and patch applications.

- In depth knowledge of Linux VFS interface/architecture and working experience with EXT3, XFS.

- Working experience with stackable file system development.

- Working knowledge of major operating systems such as FreeBsd and Windows.

- Mentor junior engineers into acquiring greater responsibilities.

- Provide technical direction to rest of software team
