Professional Services QA Engineer I

Job Summary: 

Varolii is looking for a dynamic QA professional to serve as a QA Engineer for our Professional Services Quality Assurance organization.  This position requires close interaction with the Professional Services group, our clients, other QA Leads and staff, Sales and Sales Engineering teams, and other internal groups.

Primary Responsibilities:  Defect reporting and trackingTest plan creation: Interpret and evaluate functional specifications for inconsistenciesModify the existing test plan template to fit the application requirements outlined in the functional specificationConduct a kickoff meeting in conjunction with Sales Engineers and Services Engineers to ensure consistency and completeness of test planTest execution:Follow test plan to unit test the telephony applicationsUnit test the backend systems (Unix-based) responsible for triggering the initial event notificationTest the solution by performing system and end-to-end testsPerform white-box testing by inspecting: Telephony template configuration and logicBackend “XTAP” XML-based application definitionsPerform black-box testing to evaluate the outbound alert content and behaviorRegression testing of applicationsTest corrected issuesAssertively communicate obstructions for production rollout to stakeholders (direct sales force and services engineers) of each applicationGenerate summary of testing effort by documenting test coverage and completion to send to stakeholders

 

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): 

Ability to work independently and conduct full-cycle communication between teamsAssertive personality not afraid to ask questions and speak clearly and conciselyEnjoys interacting with all stakeholders within a projectAbility to query relational databases via SQL (Oracle a plus) Comfortable working in a command line environment (Unix, Linux a plus) Ability to read and interpret programming languages

 

Education / Experience:

· B.S. Degree or two years QA experience
