Programmer Analyst/Modifications Engineer

Job Summary: 

A position within the Modifications Team of Customer Management, the Modifications Engineer is an experienced role with potential for growth. Working closely with other members of the Modifications Team, members of the Varolii Professional Services team and Varolii Corporation as a whole, the Modifications Engineer provides technical expertise by designing, implementing, and delivering quality modifications of existing applications as requested by the customer within a predefined timeline.

Primary Responsibilities: 

· Design, implement, test, and deliver basic to intermediate level technical modifications to existing applications for Enterprise class customers within a predefined timeline.

· Provide scope analysis of modification requests to ensure the requested change will not compromise the integrity of the application or other client applications; maintain ownership until delivery.

· Work closely with the Varolii Support Team to ensure that continuity of support is maintained during the roll out phase of each modification delivered.

· Work actively with the Customer Advocates, Professional Services team and other groups within Varolii as needed throughout the lifecycle of the modification to ensure customer needs are met.

· Provide feedback that will help shape the Modifications Team processes, policies, and documentation.

· Efficiently organize and carry through on multiple, simultaneous projects.

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): 

· Comfortable in a command line operating system environment (UNIX/Linux a plus)

· Demonstrates a dedication to client satisfaction

· Communicate (written & verbal) in a clear, concise and professional manner

· Comfortable working with a direct sales force

· Willingness to occasionally serve as on-call support contact

· Outstanding problem-solver who can demonstrate a desire to succeed and takes pride in a strong work ethic

· Requires the ability to develop, in a short period of time, working knowledge of existing customer applications; their architectures, and implementations.

Working knowledge:

· UNIX/Linux command line tools

· UNIX/Linux shell scripting

· VI

· XML

· Regular expressions

· SQL

· PGP encryption

· FTP/telnet

· At least one Object Oriented Programming Language

Education / Experience:

· Four year college degree or equivalent experience

· 2-3 years application development experience

· Knowledge of call-center industry or telephony systems a plus

· Previous experience developing IVR/VRU applications a plus

· Spanish/French languages a plus
