Programmer Intermediate-VB.NET Under the general direction of the management team and senior staff, this Programmer - Intermediate will be responsible for providing experienced programming services, defining technical requirements, developing and/or maintaining computer applications/systems, and providing services to meet client IT and business needs.  The incumbent will work with ISD staff, and/or vendors to evaluate, develop, and implement technical solutions including both packaged system solutions and custom development applications options.  Ideal candidates should have completed on-going training on-the-job, through courses, self-study, certifications and/or advanced degrees to maintain and enhance technical and business capabilities.  They should demonstrate thorough understanding of the fundamental tools and concepts of one of the information technology professional disciplines (i.e., applications, business analysis, customer service, data, networking, operations, security, systems engineering, etc.) and apply that understanding to make independent practical contributions to IT work within a particular UPMC department or function.  Several years of strong VB6 design and development, strong ADO skills to SQL and DB2, and two to three years of VB.NET experience including migrating complex VB6 applications to VB.NET experience is highly preferred.  Multi-threading experience, DLL skills, and some TCP/IP skills, DB2 knowledge, and EDI X12 knowledge is also preferred.   UPMC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package along with a strong growth-oriented working environment.
