For more information, please visit www.Fiserv.com POSITION PURPOSE: The successful candidate will play an instrumental role in ensuring the deployment, configuration and tuning of databases for Fiserv Insurance Solutions JProducts implementations. Requires knowledge of running large enterprise-level applications on: SQL Server. DIMENSIONS: #/Types of Hardware Serviced (PC &/or Mainframe): PC and AIX Types of Programming Languages or Operating Systems Used: SQL Server 2000/2005, Windows, UNIX, and Linux REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:Reports To: DBA Team LeadPeers: Sr. DBA, DBA,RESPONSIBILITIES: * Physical database design - Physical data modeling using ERWIN and/or Power Designer depending on the product being supported. The DBA will be responsible to update the database with DDL changes and using the data modeling tool to create DDL migration scripts and database creation scripts. * SQL development and tuning – the DBA will be responsible to reviewing a developing database migration scripts, DML script tuning and general SQL tasks. * Performance tuning (for Windows, UNIX, and OS390 platforms). – The DBA will be responsible for database tuning using the database’s tools. This can include but is not limited to explain plain, database statistic and others. They will do this on all environments supported, for example AIX and windows. * Interaction with developers to ensure quality designs of customer-specific enhancements – Work with developers to insure quality database changes are created to support development efforts. Also work with developers to insure database best practices and standards are using in the development cycles. * Database installation and set-up – Install and create databases for the following database applications: DB2, Oracle, SQL Server.* Database backup and recovery – The DBA will perform standard backup and recovery of the different database platforms: SQL Server, DB2 and Oracle. These backups and recovery activities are done using the database platforms internal tools. * Administration of database environments – conduct standard database administrations such as user administration.* Conduct database migrations – Migrate databases between releases using both DDL and DML scripts. Tech/ B Sc / ME / M Tech / M Sc / MBA.
