QA Lead

 

The candidate will be responsible for building and leading a small team of QA Engineers to perform all aspects of functional quality assurance for a new Borland ALM product offering. This team will be involved from the beginning of release planning through the launch of each release of the product, reviewing requirements and design specifications for testability, and utilizing black box testing methodologies through both manual testing and automation tools. The QA Lead will work with other development, program management, product management, and support team members to ensure proper test coverage is achieved and quality standards are met. This product team is geographically distributed, so the candidate must be able to work well with teammates across multiple time zones. Since the team will be relatively small, the lead will also be a hands-on QA engineer

 

Typical Activities:

 Devise strategies and plans for automated and manual testing of a new product designed to facilitate development of prototype web applications used to elicit and refine business requirementsHire, direct and develop QA Engineers to carry out planned activities, including but not limited to test planning, test case development, test execution, the evaluation of test results and the filing and tracking of defectsIdentify, acquire and set up appropriate processes and tools for performing both manual and automated testingFormulate work assignments for members of the QA team; review completed assignments, and provide performance feedback to team membersDesign, develop and maintain test cases and test automation scripts Perform testing activities including functional and regression testing Review test results and properly evaluate the stability of the software being tested Analyze and report test results to product teams Log defects and track them to resolution Work effectively with developers other product team members

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

 5+ years QA experience including automated testing Significant experience testing web applications Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Internet Explorer Solid experience with Oracle database applicationsStrong QA Skills on planning, bug isolation, bug report writing and troubleshooting Good understanding of QA processes, methodologies and approaches Experience analyzing functional requirements and design specifications in order to effectively derive test strategies, test plans and ultimately test cases Hands-on experience with manual black box testing Experience developing and executing automated test scripts (Borland SilkTest strongly preferred) Must be resourceful with good analytical skills Must be friendly and outgoing Must be a team player Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment with changing priorities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent attention to detail with an aptitude for problem solving and learning new concepts quickly Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines Ability to work independently with guided but minimal supervision
