QA Test Automation Engineer

 

This position performs complex testing tasks requiring planning, scheduling, automated script writing and manual testing to assure that developed products meet requirements and design specifications and are within total quality management limits and standards. Working within a delivery team, the Automation Engineer communicates with product developers and technical support specialists to identify software defects found in various products.

 

· Develops and maintains automated test scripts

· Defines test objectives, creates test plans and develops manual or automated test cases and procedures

· Performs complex testing and leadership tasks on complex projects including the planning, scheduling and implementation of testing projects

· Executes software applications tests generating test data and metrics, communicating test status and analyzing test results

· Participates successfully and influences quality on assigned teams

· Helps establish guidelines for testing and for software development

· Records defects (using bug tracking software), including documenting information useful in the debugging process, evaluating test data, problem discovery, tracking and resolution

· Produce test results to management and customers that are clear and concise

· Acting as the "customer advocate" on quality issues, researches and develops an understanding of the marketing and/or industry requirements for the product features being tested, including how the users use the features and their performance requirements for the features

· Coordinate with Customer Support on research of product defects

· Keeps abreast of evolving QA industry process and standards

· Responsible for recognizing and making management aware of process problems and defects being overlooked that may be critical to product's usability

· Understand and work within the Meridium Software Development Lifecycle

· Acts as a mentor for QA Analysts

· Learn basics of underlying Meridium technology (databases, windows, IIS, etc). 2-3 years experience with Automation Test Tools/Frameworks (Mercury QuickTest Pro, Mercury WinRunner, UNunit, JUnit, etc)2-3 years of practical Software Testing experience with Client/Server Applications, ideally including Web, Database, and .NETGood coding/scripting practicesFamiliar with relational database design and good knowledge of SQLExperience with black box and white box testing techniques and methodologiesExperience with functional, regression, performance and stability testingExperience working in a development team environment and ability to influence the quality of the product in that environmentProven written/verbal communication skillsExcellent problem solving/troubleshooting skillsAbility to lead technical discussions
