Title: Test Automation Engineer

 

I. Position Description

The Test Automation Engineer is responsible for executing pre-defined automated test scripts and analyzing and reporting the results of the test executions to the QA Manager, Test Automation Team Lead or Senior Test Automation Engineer.  In addition, they will be responsible for building basic test automation scripts without supervision and building complex test automation scripts with supervision.

 

 

II. Position Expectations

·  Participate and learn configurations of various systems tested in Product Engineering and be able to setup equipment with minimal assistance.

·  Participate and learn installation and configuration of software to be able to assist in the set up of a complete system for testing.

·  Develop automation test plans with assistance from the Senior Automation Test Engineer.

·  Perform pre-defined feature, unit and regression automated overnight or weekend tests.

·  Analyze results of feature, unit and regression automated overnight or weekend tests.

·  Recreate and report issues found with automated tests and document steps to recreate errors. 

·  Document issues found with automated tests including steps to recreate the issue and script information for recreating issue.

·  Assist with questions regarding results of automated test runs.

·  Perform basic script creation without assistance.

·  Perform complex script creation with assistance from Senior Test Automation Engineer or Test Automation Team Lead.

·  Review results of automation test scripts and determine maintenance that needs to be completed, with some assistance from Senior Test Automation Engineer or Test Automation Team Lead.

·  Perform maintenance on basic automation scripts.

·  Perform maintenance on complex automation scripts with assistance from Senior Test Automation Engineer or Test Automation Team Lead.

·  Assist Associate Test Automation Engineer with questions.

·  Perform other duties as assigned.

·  Participate in automation test plan reviews.

 

III.  Core Competencies

·  Be familiar with product development lifecycle and requirements at each stage of the lifecycle.

·  Understand and have experience with manually testing products.

·  Be able to question software features, performance or behavior.

·  Must understand coding structure and techniques.

·  Have ability to work effectively with QA manual testers, developers and managers.

·  Possess ability to adapt to quickly changing work environments.

 

IV. Education

·  Background in quality control and testing.

·  Less than 3 years experience with test automation tool.

·  Experience with coding languages is preferred but not required.
