StrongMail is looking for a seasoned hands-on manager that is passionate about delivering high quality products to the marketplace. The ideal candidate will have strong people management, project management, communication, and collaboration skills, and an excellent knowledge of QA and software development processes and architecture. Demonstrated experience in managing an off-shore QA team is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Lead a world-class global Quality Assurance team in the US and India
* Innovate and continuously improve StrongMail's quality systems, processes, and people
* Experience in establishing the right processes to help meeting quality goals
* Have the vision and know-how to take quality to the next level, including testing processes and architecture
* Estimating QA efforts, preparing, and owning QA and release schedules, making practical tradeoffs between time, resources, and testing levels.
* Work closely with software development, product management, technical support, documentation, and other business teams to develop product schedules, execute test plans, and deliver high quality products to the market in a timely fashion.
* Hands on ability to contribute directly to test design, writing, execution, and automation when necessary.
* Create guidelines for determining the scope and types of testing required for various types of major, minor, and maintenance releases.
* Lead the QA team for all software quality efforts including platform/feature testing, system testing, regression testing, compatibility testing, as well as automation of testing.
* Drive automated and manual testing approaches
* Leading software QA project activities such as test case design, test automation development, test plan, documentation, integration testing, test plan reviews
* Implement clear communication channels for QA results, concerns, and project status; ensure test plans are reviewed across teams and test certification reports are prepared and shared as part of test closure
* Participate in bug prioritization and assignment to releases
* Manage StrongMail's QA lab infrastructure and release processes
* Lead efforts to implement extensive QA automation. Expert level of understanding and utilizing QA/test tools with experience in implementing automation
QUALIFICATIONS:
* 8+ years of experience with software quality assurance, including 5+ years as a manager
* Proven track record of successfully managing QA for software products and delivering with quality on time
* Passionate about delivering quality products in a timely fashion
* Required expertise with QA of web based software products and servers, Linux, C++ and Java stacks, and databases (MySQL, Postgresql).
* Experience with messaging or email software products a plus.
* Hands on experience in Linux, scripting, SQL, Perl, and Java
* Excellent communication skills
* Extensive experience with leading automation testing and test-driven approaches
* Extensive knowledge of leading QA tools and methodologies
* Experience with sophisticated web based software product with high performance and reliability demands as well as UI/usability testing for business users.
* Ability to be effective in fast paced start up with a quickly changing environment
* Experience in a start up company environment
* Experience and passion for building great teams, motivating people, instilling accountability, and achieving results under tight constraints
* Ability to manage on-shore and off-shore teams
* Strong organizational and project management (planning/tracking/reporting) abilities across multiple overlapping releases
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
