SAP BASIS

JOB SUMMARY:
The SAP BASIS Administrator (SBA) provides shared BASIS administration for all systems in the SAP environment. This position is also responsible for shared general support of all other SAP software infrastructure components including database systems and SAP management tools. The SBA will typically perform daily BASIS administration, monitoring, troubleshooting and performance tuning in a complex SAP environment on SuSE Linux systems running Oracle. In addition this position will also assist the SAP Infrastructure Services Manager with development of SAP strategies that support the Ferro IS vision of world-class computing in a high-availability infrastructure environment.

The SBA supports mission-critical systems and services. As such this is a high profile technology position that requires strong commitment and the willingness to go above & beyond to achieve SAP service goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage the SAP environment. Along with other SAP Infrastructure Services Team members:
a. Perform BASIS administration duties on all SAP systems in the environment including but not limited to **sandbox**, development, quality and production R/3, Business Warehouse, MDM, APO and Solution Manager systems. Includes organizing & maintaining job-scheduling, maintaining SAP background activities, administration of SAP interfaces to other systems, and performance & control of manual & automatic system checks.
b. Provide support in areas of database administration (especially Oracle & MaxDB), SAP product installations, upgrades, change management and performance tuning.
c. Facilitate provision of level 1 SAP support services with other IS team members, especially Help Desk and desktop support personnel.
d. Resolve serious or critical (level 2 & 3) SAP systems issues. Response to production issues may require occasional after hours **on call** duty during which employee must be able to rapidly respond to various SAP emergencies.
e. Ensure the physical integrity and security of all SAP data
2. Maintain high degree of knowledge/understanding of SAP technologies, business processes and solutions, keeping current with release levels and industry issues. Assist with evaluation of new SAP applications and other software technologies.
3. Analyze technical requirements and systems infrastructure (e.g., system architecture & landscape design). Provide recommendations on all aspects of configuration and upgrade requirements.
4. Assist with infrastructure components of SAP products upgrade projects, application & testing of service packages, and disaster recovery planning & testing
5. Support and help maintain standards for SAP infrastructure, operating systems, data base administration and Basis practices based on experience, best practices and feedback from other members of the IS team.
6. Active contributor to tactical and strategic business technology planning efforts
7. Contribute to the IS capital planning and budget process for the SAP environment

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Minimum 8 years SAP technology experience. Minimum 4-6 years SAP BASIS experience.
-Demonstrated SAP implementation and management experience supporting significant numbers of systems and services.
-Bachelor**s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
-SAP R/3 and BASIS experience required. Solution Manager and/or Business Warehouse experience preferred. MySAP ERP 2005 and SAP portals experience a plus.
-SAP BASIS certification preferred
