SENIOR SYSTEMS SCIENTIST

Performs studies, analysis, software support and software development for the USAKA Command Safety Office at Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. As a member of a technical team, conducts analysis, and supports Range Safety activities for the Army at Kwajalein. Requires knowledge of system designs, operational procedures, hazard identification and requirements necessary to prevent or control risk throughout a missile life cycle. Requires the ability to evaluate risk, and control identified safety hardware and software hazards through analysis, modeling and simulation techniques to prevent personal injury or death. This position requires the ability to evaluate the impact of design and manufacturing process on missile systems. This position requires the ability to review subsystems and flight tests plans and procedures and to support test oversight. Participate in both programming and in analysis related studies. Areas of special expertise include, risk analysis, probability, aerospace engineering, simulations and modeling, and radar systems. Provide wide-ranging support for USAKA including for both military and commercial testing activities. This support requires the use of the first order principles and concepts of many scientific/engineering disciplines including mechanical, electrical, chemical, electronics, and computer systems to complete safety analysis. Perform specific specialty analyses as required to address unique and usually time-sensitive concerns. These may involve various forms of factual research and mathematical-based analysis to draw together and correlate relevant factors. This requires becoming fluent in the hardware associated with USAKA including the KMRSS, MRSS, RSC, MSE, RDTS, RSAS, RASA, KREMS and the software associated with launch area hazards, performing risk analysis, debris dispersion, intercept debris, failure analysis. Finally, support ongoing operations by participating in various groups and committees. Work to be performed in the Fort Walton Beach Offices, but some travel may be required.Requirements: A bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, or related field from an accredited college or university is required. A minimum of ten years experience in analysis and/or programming is required. Experience in simulation and modeling of aerospace vehiclesHands-on experience with programming in FORTRAN and C The ability to document study results and prepare briefing papers is necessary. Requires completion of CMMI coursesU.S. Citizenship required. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for a Secret security clearance.
