SOFTWARE PRODUCT MANAGER (DEVELOPMENT)

Headquartered in Duluth, Georgia Concurrent is a worldwide leader in providing digital on-demand systems to the broadband industry and real-time computer systems for industry and government. This position supports the On-Demand product line.

 

The Software Product Manager will drive the product vision, direction and roadmap for a number of existing and new software products. The Software Product Manager must be able to blend a level of technical savvy with a big-picture strategic vision and an ownership drive to make that vision a reality. They must be able to research and understand market needs and find innovative solutions that meet the needs of the broader market. The Software Product Manager will work very closely with Development in defining the market requirements for the product, while development will define how the product will meet these requirements. They will be responsible for managing the full product life cycle of their products. The Product Manager is ultimately responsible and accountable for their products and they are the internal and external champion for the product offerings. The Software Product Manager's responsibilities include all aspects of the 'Product Strategy' including business cases, pricing, product portfolio and buyuildpartner recommendations. A Product Manager's key role is strategic not tactical.

 

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Develop market requirements documents (MRD) for each release based on market research, competitive analysis, understanding of the market, customer requirements and feedback from our sales and support organizations Act as a chief customer conduit and continuously seek to understand the important problems customers are trying to solve. Validate requirements regularly with clients and customer-facing organizations. Proactively conceive, document and drive the creation of new features.Prioritize product feature requirements.Work with marketing, development, QA, documentation and other product managers to define the scope of each feature Write detailed product requirements documents (PRD)/ functional specifications to be used by development, QA and documentation.  Manage overall product releases with the goal of successful and timely deliverables.Provide product information to meet a variety of internal and external needs including internal training, sales collateral, press releases and web site copy.Ensure that solutions meet user and business requirements. Manage internal and third-party partner relationships as needed.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 5-7 years of Software Product Management experience Bachelors Degree in computer science or related technical discipline.  MBA degree preferred.Experience with agile software development.Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with both technical and business audiences. Know how to collaborate and build consensus within cross-functional area.Demonstrated experience with successful software product management efforts and launchesTechnical proficiency and ability to understand complex products/architecturesSolid understanding of product development life cycle including knowledge of software design and development processes and tools, as well as familiarity with deployment and operations.Strong analytical, business, communication and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple project simultaneously and comfortable working in a fast paced environment Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional team environments.Capable of working independently and demonstrate good decision-making abilities.Entrepreneurial, passionate, high energy, resilient, mentally quick, strong sense of urgency, intensity, ambitious, intuitive and decisive
